My Book

Steps of Life: Exceeding Boundaries is a trilogy of short books I wrote and illustrated.

It’s about my 14 years in London and all the challenges I found there and how I overcame them one by one. It wasn’t easy, but if I can do it, anybody can do it!

Every time people thought I couldn’t do something, I did it anyway and everyone was surprised. At first, I wanted to learn how to go outside on my own and cross the streets, but some were very big and complicated. It took a year but I learned, and then went all over London alone on my walker, to parks and museums by myself. I loved it!

After 6 years in a special school, I wanted to go to University, which seemed impossible. I just wanted to take some classes. But to my surprise, little by little over the next 6 years the credits added up, and one day I had enough to graduate.

Everyone was amazed and me too!

I was living with my parents when in the middle of University, I felt I really wanted to live with kids my own age and in my own apartment. I found a student housing online that looked good and, after my parents’ initial shock, they let me go and I was fine. They’ve been great to give me the chance to try everything I’ve wanted to do.

I always liked the saying “ A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.” That’s what my life has been like.

In my first book, Steps to Freedom, I had to overcome many fears; in the next, Steps of Courage: Traveling with Confidence, I learned to embrace the world; and in the last, Steps of Progress: My Years in London, I matured a lot and evolved more into the person I’m meant to be today.
